Here’s how Invisalign works:

  1. Dr. Duke takes photographs and impressions of your teeth and sends them to an Invisalign lab for digital imaging.
  2. Dr. Duke creates a step-by-step plan to incrementally reposition your teeth. In this stage, you’ll be able to see before and after photographs of your smile and the proposed outcome.
  3. The Invisalign lab creates custom, acrylic aligners based on Dr. Duke’s treatment plan.
  4. Wear the clear aligners, taking them out to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Every two weeks, you’ll “graduate” to a new set, and every six weeks, you’ll see Dr. Duke for a progress report.

That’s it! You’ll notice a change in the alignment of your teeth almost immediately. Treatment times range from 12 to 18 months, and many patients achieve the desired result in less than a year.

Common Questions About Salt Lake City Invisalign Braces

Is Invisalign right for me?

Dr. Duke will need to perform a comprehensive evaluation to answer this question. However, Invisalign can be used to correct a variety of alignment issues, including crowding, wide spacing, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. Most adults are candidates for Invisalign.

I wore braces previously, and now my teeth have shifted. Can Invisalign correct this?

Yes! Many patients who have previously worn braces visit our office for Invisalign treatment. With Invisalign, you won’t have to endure the social embarrassment that accompanied the braces worn in your youth.

Will I have to wear a retainer?

As with any orthodontic treatment, you will need to wear a retainer following completion of treatment. Made from clear acrylic, your Invisalign retainer will be as discreet as the aligners you wore while straightening your teeth.
